A few weeks ago, I had a chapter to finish for critique, and I was under the gun.
So what did I do?
I took selfies as I sat at the kitchen table. Then I wrote a Facebook post about taking selfies at the kitchen table. Then I checked Facebook, repeatedly, to see how many likes my post had garnered.
Needless to say, I was procrastinating. I’m not the first author to employ such tactics. I see it almost every day in friends’ meandering posts. And on those procrastination days, Facebook and other such distractions are the devil!
Because of my tendency for procrastination, I paid a price. Getting up early, going to bed late – but I finally got my chapter done, in the nick of time.
I wonder how much less sleep deprived I would be if I could conquer my inherent procrastination default.
UPDATE: The irony of this post is that I wrote it for Fight Procrastination Day...in SEPTEMBER!!! Seriously, what is wrong with me? HAHA
How about you? Do you procrastinate? And if so, what do you do to break the cycle?
